What About the Wankel?
Submitted by SuperUser on Monday, March 6, 2000 - 12:00am

Hey, whatever did happened to the
Wankel anyway? There was a
time when it seemed like the
Wankel was going to take over the
world, or at least provide serious
competition to the standard
four-stroke motor. After all, it does
offer some important advantages,
including a better
power-to-weight ratio - meaning
more oomph from a smaller engine
- along with fewer moving parts,
resulting in greater overall reliability. But somewhere
along the way, it kind of slipped out of view. So what
happened?
